This France/Canadian film originally titled Le Loup et le Lion is carried by Molly Kunz, as (Windows) as a young woman, Alma who passes on a concert career to care for two orphan animals, one a lion the other a wolf.
Kunz has a fresh face and attractive red hair and appears as one who is dedicated to her unusual determined direction rather than anything else. She is guided as much as possible by seasoned performer Graham Green as Joe.
Kunz lights up the screen along with the animals which begin the story as small, nursing, and orphaned wild creatures. Together they begin to nurse on a wolf until she is not available. At that point Alma takes over their care and nurturing.
The scenes with the animals romping together in the forest with the beautiful Canadian wilderness as a backdrop are clearly the best in the production.
The final chapters however, appear contrived even though the film is based on true events and they limit the appeal of the story and conclusion.
The Wolf and the Lion is pleasant to watch but nothing to write home about.
