Blake Lively tackles interesting rolls some polished like The Age of Adaline and other very physical like The Shallows. Here she is on a revenge tear seeking to destroy all who had a hand in the killing of her family in a terrorist like plot.
She is like pliable steel in hand to hand combat and when necessary sexy and smooth when that works toward her goal.
Lively is worth watching but the direction and script are muddled and at times more confusing than powerful. In some cases the actions appear to be almost comical. At one point she is attacked suddenly by her trainer like Cato attacks Inspector Clouseau in the Pink Panther Series. Later she uses the line (no one does it better). Sounds like James Bond and it doesn’t fit.
The interesting and creative performance is muted by a muddled script and some confusing direction which destroys the rhythm.
