Director Mike Mitchell and writers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller have a very successful sequel on their hands.
This animated film picks up where the 2014 one left off. Finn (Jaden Sand) and little sister Bianca (Brooklynn Prince) play very differently with their Lego and Duplo toys. Most kids act out in all sorts of ways. Some are passive, or aggressive or playful, and any way that kids choose to explore their imagination, is great. Bianca likes to adorn and pamper her toys and Finn refers to some of the action films he’s seen to base some of his play.
Chris Pratt (Emmet), Will Arnett (Batman), Elizabeth Banks (Lucy) and Will Farrell ( in a very small role) return as we re-visit Bricksburg. The play-town that was once a great place for unflappable Emmet, feisty Lucy, and the rest of the characters to live. It now is called Apocalypseburg and has become a bleak, depressed area that is invaded by outer space evil Duplo characters.
The film has terrific animation, energetic songs that you’ll remember long after you leave the theater, fun, colorful characters and clever writing. A really good film for the whole family to enjoy.
