A world-weary realtor can be a little delusional in this comic, soap-opera staring Sigournery Weaver. Nova Scotia substitutes for fictional opulent anew England town as the plot (from a 2013 book) draws from a dark ancestral past.
There’s a good cast on-board with a decent cast including the likes of Beverly D’Angelo, Rob Delaney, and Kathryn Erbe as a colleague turned rival. The best of them happens to be Kevin Kline’s jaded ‘smelly garbage man’ in Frank who’s from the lead character’s past. The interactions and plot really doesn’t maneuver very interestingly though it will be a fine reunion for those of a certain age and some cineastes to have Weaver and Kline together again for their scenes (Dave, The Ice Storm). Breaking the ‘fourth wall’ though really doesn’t make this House as lived-in and inviting as it intended to be.
