This could be Speed in a car. The idea of folks captured in a limited space with the danger of an explosion hanging over their head.
Liam Neeson’s Matt Turner is a business partner of Anders Muller (Matthew Modine). He is also in a family situation where edgy relationships exist. Son Zack (Jack Champion) has a day planned with his girl friend that doesn’t include going to school. Heather (Embeth Davidtz) expects Matt to drive the kids to school while she has a date with her girl friend. Tension fills the household just before they all leave and Matt receives a call demanding the substantial escrow fund of his company or people will be blown up.
The suspects are interesting but limited by the small cast. And Matt Turner is in a Hitchcock situation, the innocent man who is thrown into a whiling event not of his doing.
The limited space to film is nearly all in Matt’s spending car as he avoids explosions and what appears to be the entire police force.
Even though the plot feels forced, the action and tension are interestingly played out in the limited car location and the film is quite exciting with action and a few cliff hangers.
