Emily Watson and Paul Mescal shine in this atmospheric drama set around a fishing preparation plant in a remote Irish enclave. It can be persuasive in many aspects up to an important point when Watson’s Aileen comes to the aid of Mescal’s subtle, if cunning prodigal son. Reminiscent at times of films like Manchester By The Sea and Breaking The Waves, but is undone by its genre immersion and consequential nature.
