Follow up to the popular thriller Escape Room, director Adam Robitel gives us an entertaining and fun sequel.
The Minos Corporation has designed a series of rooms where players are killed off one by one if they don’t come up with the correct answers to complex clues in time.
Zoe (Taylor Russell) and friend Ben (Logan Miller), who survived the game in the original film, return to get proof that everything that occurred was real and that Minos was the evil manipulator behind the game.
Zoe and Ben join 4 other smart young adults in a number of escape rooms. The first one is a subway car that has deadly consequences if they can’t get out in time. The ones that survive, find themselves in a bank setting and then on a deserted beach. Other torturous chambers follow, until someone can beat the game.
The set designs are imaginative and the clues elaborate ( however, sometimes a bit too complex). The characters could have used some fleshing out, so we could have had greater connection to them.
The premise of the film was clever, but I don’t know if it has enough juice for a third outing.
