Charlie’s Angels (2019)

Girl Power! When I heard about ANOTHER Charlie’s Angels I was thinking, what could they possibly have to tell us that we don’t already know?  Well, apparently there is an Angel’s camp, and tons of Charlie’s Angels everywhere!  Nice.

The Townsend Agency is global with a “Bosley” in charge of each different group.  They are strong, smart and handling business all over the world!  One super angel, played by Elizabeth Banks, has been promoted to Bosley and is in charge of a group of women just taking care of all kinds of business.  They are dispatched to find and protect a whistleblower from a company slated to take over the power source for the whole world that has potential to be weaponized.  Of course there is a twist, a counter spy, and all kinds of deception.  When a beloved Bosley is lost in a fire fight, the lovely Djimon Hounsou, the Angels set out to find the mole and set it straight.

It’s a great romp with gadgets, clothes and transportation, including a horse!  It borders sometimes just on the edge of campy with synchronized dancing, obvious surveillance, everybody with the same wig to confuse security, and bungled escapes with dialog all through telegraphing what is going to happen.  It’s still enjoyable to watch and even if it’s a little scatterbrained at times, you still cheer for them get the bad guy.

All of the actors are very good, even Kristen Stewart was tolerable, sometimes she can be a bit annoying to watch.  And they brought it back at the end with Jaclyn Smith, Danika Patrick, Ronda Rousey and Lavern Cox handling all aspects of Angel training! I would totally take a fight class with Ronda!  Instead of having that at the end after the credits, it should have been at the beginning of the movie!  I would have liked to see that.  Enjoyable and fun, worth a popcorn and a soda to watch.  It doesn’t add anything new but puts a new slant on how it is moving forward! Hello Angels!
