Alpha – A story of survival set 20,000 years ago during the last Ice Age. Or, one of the most implausible films to be released in a quite some time. Sorry, folks – It’s the latter.
It’s difficult to believe that anyone would find this movie entertaining. It’s a conflagration of so many weekly programs that appeared on Walt Disney’s Wonderful World Of Color in the 1960’s. Take Old Yeller and mix it in with ‘The Incredible Journey’ and there’s your plot. Add 1966’s One Million Years B.C. and 1986’s The Clan of the Cave Bear and you have your entire script.
Alpha is so un-original that it borders on outright plagiarism. Lots of great visuals and special effects don’t make up for a lame film that will be soon forgotten. I’m at a loss to even imagine what age group this movie is trying to appeal to.
Please don’t waste your time and hard-earned money on this dog, unless you really need to see a film featuring a stone-age wolf/dog and his young cro-magnon companion from 20,000 years ago.
