My first mistake, going into 21 Bridges with high expectations. Once again, assuming that a film featuring Chadwick Boseman would be somewhat entertaining. It begins with a bang, but soon devolves into a massive whimper.
The premise of closing down all of Manhattan bridges (there’s your title) – thus preventing two cop killers from eluding capture is totally illogical. The gridlock alone would be astronomical. Apparently, the producers forgot that eight million people live on the island. As viewers however we are not supposed to question this ridiculously dumb-ass premise.
Secondly, trying to figure out the story is another challenge. The screenplay is so disjointed that one can’t figure out what the hell is going on. Who are the GOOD guys? Who are the BAD guys? Overall, a really second-rate film and another total waste of Chadwick Boseman’s talent.
Even supporting cast members Sienna Miller and J.K. Simmons can’t save this movie from its very quick and ultimate demise at the box office.
