Disney's newest animated film has a familiar ring to it. If you took the kids to see last year's Madagascar, you will remember that a bunch of cute, talking animals left the safety of their zoo and mistakenly ended up in a strange foreign land, well, this film has the same story line.
Keifer Sutherland gives his smooth, whispery voice to Samson the Lion, who's young cub Ryan has been sent to Africa by mistake. Helping to get Ryan back, is Benny the Squirrel (Jim Belushi), Bridget the Giraffe (Jeanene Garofalo) and the cuddly Koala, Nigel (Eddie Izzard), who's the loudest and most fun in the pack.
When the group reaches the strange land of Africa, they meet up with Kazar (William Shatner) who heads the wildebeasts, and things take off from there.
Kids will love the animals, especially Benny and Nigel, who's British accent gives him an air of respect to go along with his nonsense. Adults will enjoy the richness of the wonderful characters and the fact that underneath all the fluff, there's a good message about friendship and helping friends out when they are in need.
