A promising beginning turns to a maudlin meddle and a disappointing ending in John Carpenter's new horror film.
Christopher Reeves and Kirstie Alley are adult doctors in a small northern California town which becomes decimated by nine white haired children, all whom were conceived during the same sic hour period while the entire population of the town was rendered unconscious. The kids learn as fast as Data from Star Trek and are connected in thought and purpose. Anyone who gets in their way is disposed of. With little imagination, Director Carpenter changes the color of the kids' eyes as they disapproved of the actions of the adults. Everything is clearly projected, very predictable and tame. Worst of all, no answer to the mystery of the conceptions is even attempted.
