Thomas and Charles Guard direct this horror film starring Emily Browning.
She plays Anna, a troubled girl who is just returning home from a psychiatric hospital stay. She tried to commit suicide when her mother died, and although she seems far from well, she's released.
She heads home to her father, played by David Strathairn, who adds his considerable talent to the mix; the wild sister, Alex, played by Arielle Kabbel; and dad's new witchy love, Rachel (Elizabeth Banks), the family's former employee.
The girls despise Rachel and she gives them hateful looks in return, in fact there's a lot of fighting and screaming going on.
However, the real scares are supposed to come from Anna's visions, and what is truly going on and what is only a bad dream. She's plagued by seeing deadly explosions and horrible deaths. But, the real problem with The Uninvited is that we've seen most of this before and unfortunately, we've seen it done better.
