This stunning IMAX 3D picture takes place in the Pacific Ocean mostly in reefs close to Indonesia and Australia.
Under the Sea 3D follows the beauty of Deep Sea 3D in a brisk (under three-quarters of an hour) time. The lush clarity of this special depth-of-field format heights the effect to make it feel like you are up against an aquarium.
On view, there are whales, sea lions, and sharks, as well as eels, snakes, stingrays and turtles. But, there are lesser known, just as colorful species when it come to ones like cuttlefish, jellyfish, or frogfish, some of which exhibit a little personality.
Howard Hall's picture has an educational slant to it that Al Gore would definitely advocate, though it's not really telling a story per se. Jim Carrey seems appropriate in the voice-over, though maybe more rhythmic to appeal to smaller fry. And, it draws some chuckles during a somewhat jarring sequence with three unusual mating fish accompanied by a love song.
Going into the deep blue sea without diving equipment is something for the whole family in a brief fantastic voyage filled with breathtaking imagery.
