Torque
Torque
Starring Martin Henderson, Ice Cube, Monet Mazur,
Adam Scott, Matt Schulze, Jay Hernandez

We know that comparisons are going to be made between Torque and The Fast and the Furious films, compared to Torque The Fast and the Furious films look like Oscar contenders.

Torque's story isn't the only problem as it is just what we would expect from this kind of an action film with fake action that drives it to a less than satisfying finish.

The premise of Torque is that Cary Ford (Martin Henderson) has returned home in an attempt to rekindle a romance with his girlfriend Shane (Monet Masur) and to settle some unfinished business dealing with drugs and stolen bikes. His plans get changed when the owner of said bikes and drugs, kills the young brother of Trey (Ice Cube) in an attempt to frame Ford and add an unneeded subplot.

Ford is also being chased by the FBI due to his hasty run to the Orient and questions about drugs.

In short the only thing wrong with this film is the action. With CGI used in almost all the bike scenes, the excitement is lost. This is more than obvious when (2) riders physically fight at speeds over 100 mph. From experience, the only thing one can focus on when riding that fast is your center of gravity and anything which might make you change abruptly.

While we might forgive the CGI, the “real” stunts are must plain stupid.

While the opportunity to see Ice Cube is what drew me to this film, his type cast character delivered nothing to save it. This film is not only one to skip at the theaters, it is one to skip forever.
