Well written, well cast, and well performed, So I Married an Axe Murderer is a comedy starring Mike Myers, Nancy Travis, Anthony LaPaglia, Amanda Plummer and Brenda Fricker.
Charlie Mackenzie (Myers) can't get his love life together until he meets Harriet Michaels (Travis). She runs her own butcher shop, she's crazy about Charlie and this time he's determined to overcome the apprehensions that have sabotaged his past relationships. Tony Giardino (LaPaglia), Charlie's best friend, is all for the union as is May Mackenzie, Charlie's mother (Brenda Fricker). What could go wrong? Perhaps the sweet innocent Harriet is the axe murderer who killed her first three husbands?
Myers also plays Stuart Mackenzie, Charlie's father who is obnoxious and funny at the same time. His performance of "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?" will bring the house down. Academy award winner Fricker plays an equally eccentric parent as she grabs Tony's rear end and gives him prolonged kisses good bye. Not a typical mom.
All together the pieces make for a smooth flowing interesting set of characters with a simple plot that works. You can laugh at this axe murderer.
