Villain Garamel works with his henchmen Bird of Prey and a calico cat to capture as many Smurfs as possible to drain their strength into his body making him an ultimately superior wizard so he can rule the land.  His opportunity comes when the four young Smurfs head out on their own.  The Smurfs find the Forbidden Forest filled with stunning beauty much like Avatar.  In fact they even ride on dragon flies who they control from tentacles on their heads and who spray fire at the bad guys when directed to.  The color and set locations (all animated0 are be most impressive aspects of the film.

The Smurfs come in contact with new characters during their adventure, the first being plants who use the little blue creatures a pollinators by sucking them into the flowers shaking them around and injecting the Smurfs into other plants. Having a positive effect for the little blue band is a lady bug who has the ability to take pictures and do various calculations to assist the four adventures.

The new forest his filled with interesting locations and plants along with green glowing rabbits and a tribe of female Smurfs, I guess it's a tribe of Smurfettes. The new Smurfettes are not at all sure about the new characters who have invaded their land.  While the two tribes of Smurfs begin to work out what it means to have men and women that are blue and look alike, Gargamel sees an opportunity to capture many of the little creatures and draw their power to him.

There is a little twist with Smurfettes history with plays into the climax as the final battle ensues, and 'The Lost Village' openly borrows from Avatar and Snow White but that does little to excite the script for any age group.

Now that the problem of only one girl is solved, what will happen next is probably a sequel.
