If the Traveling Pants part 2 isn't very different than the first adventure it is interesting, fun and a bit romantic to watch. It's a film women will enjoy more than men and perhaps part of a change toward films that attract an audience that has been ignored.
While some of the four characters might like to spend the summer together near home they are all off to various vacations for the summer. Carmen Lowell played by America Ferrera of "Ugly Betty" fame heads to summer camp for hopeful actors where her insecurity causes her to miss an opportunity to be close to Ian (Tom Wisdom) an actor who is sure to get a part. While she toils back stage he plots to bring her out before the crowd.
At the same time Alexis Bledel from "The Gilmore Girls" and Sin City is Lena Kaligaris who continues to have feelings for Kostos (Michael Rady) in Greece but that door closes and she begins an art course where the nude model becomes a person of interest.
Amber Tamblyn's character Tibby is a loose free spirit far different than her "Joan of Arcadia," she is late enough to be pregnant. Blake Lively's Bridget heads for an archeological adventure but can't shake the strain in her relationship with her father.
Each character has issues to resolve, Carmen lacks confidence and her mother is about to have a new baby with her new husband. Lena can't forgive her Greek lover, Tibby needs confidence not a child, Bridget the attractive blond must find and forgive her grandmother played nicely by Blythe Danner.
How they all resolve their problems with help from each other and the pants is pleasant to watch and even heartwarming at times.
