Aardman Studios, creators of Wallace and Gromit brings to the big screen a delightful stop-motion action film, based on the T.V. series of the same name.
Running a kid-friendly 85 minutes, the animals use grunts, snorts and various animal sounds to communicate, but what it lacks in dialogue, it makes up for in pure entertainment.
Tired of life on the farm, Shaun (Justin Fletcher) and the rest of the flock sneak off from their home on Mossy Bottom Farm to go on an adventure in the big City. Of course, everything that could go wrong; does go wrong. Their farmer has an accident and loses his memory, the pigs take over the farmhouse and the other farm animals can't take care of themselves, so the sheep have to come up with an elaborate plan to bring everything back in order.
The characters, with bulging eyes, teeth that seem to go every which way in their mouths (especially apparent in the dog, Bitzer's mouth) are energetic and fun. The story is creative and shows what teamwork can accomplish. It also teaches that most things that we do, effect others.
The Claymation is terrific, the great music is an integral part of the film, the storyline is creative and there is plenty of silliness to go around especially, when the animals dress up to pass as humans.
Shaun The Sheep Movie is a special treat for the whole family.
