Again we find the gang from Mystery Inc. in the spotlight. In the opening scene of Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed we see Freddy (Freddy Prinze Jr.), Daphne (Sarah Michelle Gellar), Velma (Linda Cardellini), Shaggy (Matthew Lillard) and Scooby Doo (voice by Neil Fanning) strutting down the red carpet as the opening of a new display at the Coolsville Museum where the disguises of their past cases are being unveiled. It seems though that not everyone is delighted with the exhibit. Crashing through a large plate glass window is a new evil masked character (Scott McNeil) and reincarnated Pterodacty Ghost and the chase begins.

Reporter Heather Jasper-Howe (Alicia Silverstone), catches the damage caused by these new villains and the reactions/antics of Mystery Inc. Though there is no explanation of strange appearance of the two villains, Heather’s story on the nightly news out of context clips and video leaves the local citizens questioning the abilities of Mystery Inc.

Shaggy and Scooby vow to act like real detectives after their poor performance at the museum. Their determinations pays off when they discover a monster-making machine in a spooky old mine just outside of town.

For the first time we see Thelma facing a little different problem when Patrick Wisely (Seth Green), the museum’s curator starts to show some interest in her. Dressing up in a skintight red latex suit and losing her glasses, the brainy vixen tries to become a sexy wanton woman to win Patrick’s affection.

Thankfully Mystery Inc. left behind most of the innuendos and adult themes that showed up in the first Scooby Doo. But there are still plenty of great pranks that the young and old are sure to enjoy. Possibly the best part of the film is the resurrection of villains past, including Captain Cutler’s Ghost, Miner 49er and 10,000 Volt Ghost to challenge Monsters Inc. Once again.
