Alfe Woodard and Mary McDonnell (Academy Award Nominee) are two women forced together in a long journey toward emotional security.

May Alice (McDonnell) star of day time television, is forced to return to her family home in Louisiana following an accident which leaves her a paraplegic. Her arrogant selfish ways drive each nurse hired to care for her away until Chantelle (Woodard) refuses to be pushed away. Each character slowly acts on each other and draws out the hidden pain and passion which each must overcome to take on life again.

The film is laced with interesting characters and set on a peaceful lake which is lined with trees filled with Spanish moss that contrasts with the harsh language that flows from May Alice's inner anger.

The skill and competence which McDonnell and Woodard bring to their roles create a warm, believable, comfortable story of two people changing and beginning a new life which is worth living.
