Matthew Broderick stars as the brother of a school girl who tells the story of her brother Bill's adventures during the summer as her summer vacation story to her classmates on the first day of school.

Bill, a high powered corporate take over operative is called by his sister to return home before his next venture to help with the relationship between his mother and her husband, Jeffrey Jones. On his way he is held up by a woman who is running from her cop lover; she leaves him alone without his car or his clothes. Two local brothers named Jim, one after his father and the other after his grandfather, picks him up. Bill's wallet with his contact phone number is tossed into the cabin of the two Jim's. When they find it they believe it belongs to the twin brother of Bill's stepfather, who is the mayor. It goes on from there with a very complex tight little circle involving all the characters.

The situations produce some very comical scenes and a very neat clean ending which was too perfect for me. There are laughs enough for a summer escape.
