Directors Jacques Perrin and Jacques Cluzaud seem to get so close to their subjects, that you can't help but wonder how each shot was filmed and how many painstaking days and weeks was spent editing to get just one fabulous moment on screen.
Narrated by somber voiced Pierce Brosnan, we enjoy some old favorites like the walrus and playful penguins, along with some new and strange species. The majesty and strength of the blue whale is a favorite, to see a mammoth creature as big as an apartment building thrusting itself out of the water is amazing.
There are plenty of cute babies cavorting that will appeal to youngsters, plus awe inspiring beauty for every adult. It's a perfect family film.
