Next Day Air is a disjointed attempted at a Pulp Fiction-type Departed plot. Unfortunately for us watching, all it had was some snappy music, bungling bad guys and little else. It was thin and very predictable and didn’t have much excitement at all.
I was expecting much more with the likes of Mike Epps, Donald Faison and Mos Def but it really didn’t deliver. When you were expecting something funny, you only got a mild ha-ha. The comments from the audience were funnier than the lines from the movie. And even the appearance of the still beautiful Debbie Allen as the manager, and mother, of the main character failed to breathe life into this movie.
The bad guys are bungling, they were fresh from a messed-up robbery attempt that didn’t net them anything because the leader mumbled his words and they got the “tapes” instead of the “safe”, so you are not even surprised that they managed to mess up the gift that was literally delivered to their door! Even with a gold mine in their hands, they still didn’t manage to come out on top.
All in all it was very disappointing, everyone gets shot and at the end all you can say is “why did they do it”? It was a head shaker, you wonder why they even made this movie! Oh yea, and buy popcorn, you’ll need it to stay awake!
