New York Minute

Starring Ashley Olsen, Mary-Kate Olsen, Eugene Levy,
Andy Richter, Riley Smith, Jared Padalecki

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, those cute twin teens who have virtually grown up before our eyes, star in this fluff comedy.

Ashley is Jane Ryan, an ultra neat, conservative, studious high school senior, who meticulously plans every part of hr busy life. Her sister Roxy (Kate) on the other hand, is a drummer in a rock band who dresses in funky clothing and wakes up every morning devising ways to skip school.

The action takes place during one day in the life of the Ryan girls. Jane is heading into the City to give a speech at Columbia University which will determine whether or not she receives a scholarship to Oxford and Roxy is on her way to slip her band’s demo tape to a famous band that is shooting a video on the streets of N.Y.

Along the way, the girls encounter a lot of pitfalls. They accept a ride from a weird limo driver who’s part of a video pirating gang. They also get sidetracked through Chinatown, break into a Senator’s hotel room and they trek through the sewer system while being chased by the crazed limo driver and Roxy’s persistent truant officer (Eugene Levy). But, never fear, the girls find time amidst their harrowing day to find a couple of boyfriends.

Mary-Kate and Ashley are cute and high energy, and they’re a lot of fun to watch. They don’t seem to mind being thrown into embarrassing situations, they just smile broadly and carry on.

New York Minute is a cheerful little adventure that will appeal to young teens, and since it doesn’t have the usual objectionable crass humor, parents should like it too.
