The premise of My All American is to make us all feel inspired. Instead we get a tired rehash of so many other underdog sports films. The bar was set high with Brian's Song and Hoosiers, yet we keep on getting similar stories thrown at us. Hollywood just keeps pumping them out year after year hoping to strike gold.

It's easy to feel compassion and empathy for the central character Freddie Steinmark (Finn Whitrock), unfortunately, contrived sentiment doesn't always make for a great night of entertainment.

My All American is a made for television movie that would play well on the Lifetime network. It doesn't belong in first run theaters. With corny acting and a predictable ending, this is one football film that fumbles badly.
