Once again, WCKD is up to its wicked ways in the sequel to The Maze Runner. Thomas (Dylan O'Brien) and his fellow 'Gladers', believe they were rescued from WCKD by 'Janson' (Aiden Gillen). They soon realize this was nothing but a ploy to experiment on them; hoping to find a cure for the 'Flare Virus'.
Thomas and his 'immune teenage friends', also referred to as 'The Kids' escape into 'The Scorch'. 'The Cranks' who are infected with the virus begin pursuing them. These glorified zombies keep popping up throughout, adding some much needed action to the night time boredom. So much of the film is shot in the dark. it is difficult to see what is really happening.
As Thomas and the group seek out WCKD resistance fighters 'The Right Hand', they now know that something has gone terribly wrong. This sets the stage for yet another film. Unfortunately at this frustrating juncture, I wonder if anyone cares if there is a follow-up. The ending was such a downer, it felt like I had just wasted two hours of my valuable time.
