"It's never too late to begin a new adventure" is part of the advertising for this new predictable romantic comedy starring Patricia Clarkson and Sir Ben Kingsley (both of the previous more enkindling Elegy also featuring Penelope Cruz.

Learning To Drive will remind its demographic of The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel as it unsubtly becomes metaphoric with Clarkson's edgy Manhattan writer under the tutelage of Kingsley's professor turned automobile instructor.

Isabel Coixet who directed the aforementioned Elegy and alsointeresting lesser known fare like My Life Without Me has a mail-order union colliding with a rocky marriage and the stars offer it a kind of appeal felt in more honored films like Driving Miss Daisy. It helps make the gags, happenstance and stereotyping go down easier when these actors look like theirhaving a grand ole time.

Learning To Drive for many and in theaters will disappear faster than frothy cotton candy as it could have risen more to the level of its esteemed leads but it has a heartfelt smiling quality about it.
