After 14 years the long wanted and awaited sequel to the hit film The Incredibles finally has arrived. And as if that time hadn't passed the movie picks up exactly where the first film left off. But following the first sequence of the film we find our super hero family in deep trouble from trying to save the day. Super heroes are still illegal and their actions have led to super heroes being even more hated than before. However, when an eccentric business owner names Winston Deavor (Bob Odenkirk) and his sister Evelyn (Catherine Keener) propose a chance to not only put heroes in a better light, but to make super heroes legal again.
Pretty much all the main cast (and their voice actors) have returned to the film and each has a role to play in the film. But the strongest part of the film is easily the Incredible family. The family dynamic they portray is extremely convincing and humanizing despite dealing with super human people. Each member of the family gets their moment in the spotlight especially Elastigirl (Holly Hunter) who is given far more screen time and important role in the film than the original. As I watched the film I really felt like this movie was a perfect continuation of the original and not someone off sequel. It was something they could've easily done but instead they turned this film into a true sequel that is on par with the original. And what is truly impressive about this film is that in a time where there are multiple super hero films coming out each year, The Incredibles 2 manages to feel refreshing even if some of its plot points aren't as new.
So in the end, The Incredibles 2 is a truly worthwhile sequel to an incredible (pun intended) film and is worth seeing multiple times. But while I can say I will see this film again in theaters what I cannot wait for is to see the original and this film back to back in one sitting as they blend together so well for me.
