Bette Midler again shows the enormous range of her talent as Winifred, the oldest of the three Sanderson sisters who were hung in Salem during the 17th century because they were witches. The three sisters are conjured back on Halloween Night to present day Salem to draw strength from children to continue their life. Youngsters Max Dennison (Omri Katz) and his little sister Dani (Thora Birch) discover the Witches and their plan.

Midler, along with Sanderson sisters Sarah (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Mary (Kathy Najimy) attempt to raise the dead as they draw the children of Salem toward their home, but the sisters are more clumsy than cynical. They lose their brooms and one must fly a vacuum cleaner. Parker steals the show with her comical lust for young men along with an older man who is dressed as the devil for Halloween. A talking cat named Binx, who is a 17th century victim of the sister, helps the kids to subdue the bungling sister.

The only complaint for this great comedy is that it should have been released for Halloween, but it will be ready for video at that time.
