Ice Cube and Chris Tucker play comic leads as two young men who have a Friday to waste. All the action in their neighborhood takes place in front of their house.

The family Ice Cube is a part of is an intact family with a sister, mother and father. The father has peculiar idiosyncrasies but he is there and he cares about his kids. Smokey (Tucker) smokes weed that belongs to a dealer most of the time. How to pay the dealer for the product he has consumed becomes the crisis of the day for the two,

The film excuses stealing and smoking grass; it is a very inexpensive production, but forgetting all that, the script is filled with well-executed comedy. There is a lot more enjoyment watching this family fumble as they lead their everyday life than the typical guns and drugs theme which dominates films about black families.
