Elvis & Nixon is the untold true story about the meeting between the two men. Elvis Presley (Michael Shannon) is looking to become a federal agent at large and enlists his friends Jerry Schilling (Alex Pettyfer) and Sonny (Johnny Knoxville) to help him get an interview with President Richard Nixon (Kevin Spacey).
This movie is certainly a strange one. The premise is that Elvis wants to become an undercover agent so he can participate in the war on drugs yet the entire time he acts like himself and gets all the celebrity attention that one might expect for a man like him. I must admit though, despite this bizarre storyline I found myself truly enjoying myself throughout the film. The acting was superb from everyone especially Michael Shannon and Kevin Spacey, who both gave great performances as their respective characters. So when the big scene happens and Elvis finally meets Nixon it is a scene to behold.
The most surprising thing I found in this film was it's humor. I expected the film to be silly, which it was, but I found myself chuckling more often then not at the film.
In the end, Elvis & Nixon was a great film to watch. With superb acting going along with a silly, yet enjoyable plot, I would highly recommend watching this film. Especially if you're a fan of historical nonfiction.
