Don't Say a Word

Don't Say a Word

Having all the pieces for a great cinematic thriller, Don't Say a Word falls just short of delivering in every area a thrill film should.  The “dark” film style utilized by director Gary Fleder works wonderfully until he decided that action sequences are what are needed to keep the audience's attention; what a shame.

Staring Michael Douglas as Dr. Nathan Conrad who will do anything to get back his young daughter (Skye McCole Bartusiak) from kidnappers and to protect his sexy bedridden wife (Famke Janssen) by getting information from a troubled young girl who does not even know why she is being persuaded.  At the risk of losing his license as a psychiatrist, Conrad tries to get the information required to save his family.

To say much more would ruin what is a passable film these days.  Be it said that this is not on the caliber of Seven or even Girl Interrupted, but it does provide an enjoyable night out.

Also starring Oliver Platt, Brittany Murphy, Jennifer Esposito, Don't Say a Word is not going to leave you breathless, but actually start conversations on how the film could have been better.
