Far from a new pot, Desperate Hours are spent by a family held hostage by three dangerous men, led by Mickey Rourke, brilliant psychopath, and David Morse, from St. Elsewhere, who plays the crazy bad guy who spells danger for everyone. Despite the well-worn story, the script is sufficiently well written, holding the audience at attention as the typical family--father, mother, son and daughter--attempt to cope with and survive the terror over 24 hours. The twist here is the intelligent pursuit of Rourke by Linsey Crouse who heads the law enforcement team and who insists the families survive. A pretty good thriller.
