Darkman is stylish and has great special effects but nothing new to make it worthwhile viewing.

Director Sam Raimi has used parts from Dracula, The Invisible Man, Swamp Thing, Looker, and episode of The Outer Limits called The Day of the Dragon and many other Hollywood oldies to mold Darkman. The film has been compared mostly to The Phantom of the Opera it is, however, a remake of the (1953) 2-D House of Wax in which Vincent Price is burned out of his wax statue business by a ruthless business man and comes back to raise havoc particularly with the bad guy. He ware a mask to hide his grotesque scars, a hat and a cape as does Darkman.

Darkman falls short in the critical writing department, it is disappointing.
