You will enjoy this movie even if you don't have any children! Captain Underpants is a sophisticated kid's movie, using the graphic novel format that makes even the bad stuff good! There is color and movement, this story never lags. It is about a pair of young friends that have the same interests, one draws the pictures and one writes the words for their version of a comic book that has the adventures of a super hero that wears his underwear!
This story is very good, taken from the very popular book series, the pair of friends get into all kinds of mischief when they hypnotize their principal into thinking he's Captain Underpants! He is a grouchy sort who flips from being mean and bossy and always chasing after the pair for pulling pranks to the fun, flying super hero that starts every sentence with Tra la la!!
At their elementary school, the other children are feeling the effects of the demise of the arts program so George and Harold attempt to get the principal to change his mind. They use their smarts to get it done and have a good time for a while until they realize the principal should be returned to his former self. This romp of a movie is filled with visual effects, funny jokes and harmless pranks that keep you engaged and cheering for the two young boys.
They soon come up against Professor P (the P turns out to be for Poopypants) and attempt to stop the Poop-A-Geddon (the coolest name) that the Professor starts when he tries to eliminate laughter from the minds of the school children. This is well done and has great action, true friendship, lots of laughs and good life lessons.
With villains and animated toilets, George and Howard prevail and in the end manage to set Mr. Krupp up with the lunch lady! It's a hoot! Movies for kids are great - I ate my whole tub of popcorn! You will love it too.
