Charles Grodin stars as the embattled father in a family with three kids who love a stray St. Bernard that wanders into their lives. The dog has escaped from Dean Jones' animal hospital where the evil animal doctor is about to test a gun on Beethoven's head.

Beethoven is remarkably intelligent; he is able to sense events which are about to happen and those which are happening at distances from him. He is also a house destroyer; nothing survives his muddy paw prints and the wet he shakes off onto the walls and Grodin. Kids will love Beethoven, and antics, the chases, the destruction of Grodin, yuppie bankers and Beethoven's heroic actions. If you bring your kids you will have a good time too. This is fun.
