Bad Santa 2 is a bad film.
With the same low life drunk played by Billy Bob Thorton in the first film, he teams again with Tony Cox who plays Marcus Skidmore and the two take jobs as Christmas Santa in Chicago. The hit this time will be a charity establishment which has a low life leader who retains about 98% of the money taken in by the organization.
Christina Hendricks is the wife who can't keep her husband sexually satisfied, the Mad Men had no problem recognizing her sensual appeal. So Thorton's Willie Soke takes over with ugly sexual episodes in cars and back allies.
Kathy Bates in the sad crooked mother to Willie, how a substantial actress like her takes this work is difficult to understand and it's even worst for Oktaiva Spencer who gets to be a prostitute paid for by Willie to service his son.
Filled with ugly sexual references and characters that have no integrity, the usual reform that comes at the end of this style of film never arrives. There is one good situational joke, Mom (Kathy Bates) who also dresses as a Santa for part of the film escapes the cops by heading to a celebration of Santa's where she just becomes one of 300 or so of the men in red suits and frustrates the officers.
It's a shame to waste these performers on garbage like Bad Santa 2. I guess it's like Henry Fonda said to his son Peter, take the work.
