What do we get when we cross An Officer and A Gentleman with Top Gun? The answer is Annapolis. One might think the combination is a good thing, but stealing is rarely rewarded.
From the beginning with a small town boy working in a ship yard to the attempted pick up in a bar of a woman who turns out to be an officer and the "You ain't good enough" and "I'm not quitting" lines plus the necessary fight scene - we know we have seen this all before and much better. In the preceding films Tom Cruise, Richard Gere and Louis Gossett, Jr. stared - how can this cast compare?
Going on about the similarities won't help, but if you must see this film it will be better if you haven't seen the other two. Suffice to say that the poor little poor boy is victorious and the world is a safer place because of him.
