2 Fast 2 Furious

2 Fast 2 Furious

In a film where the true stars are the souped up, shiny autos, Paul Walker returns in this sequel (minus his original co-star Vin Diesel) as ex-policemen/driver extra ordinaire, Brian O'Conner.

He has little to do but smile a bit and look good while behind the wheel.  His partner this time around, is smart-talking ex-con Roman Pearce (Tyrese).  He's got quite an attitude, but his sharp retorts add interest to the otherwise pat dialogue.

O'Conner is picked up by the cops for illegal road racing and offered a chance to clear his record if he'll go undercover as a driver for a drug Kingpin (Cole Hauser in all his sneering, cigar chomping glory).

O'Conner agrees as long as he can have Roman along as another driver.  Sexy Eva Mendes is an undercover agent who poses as the bad guy's girlfriend.  He tortures a policeman on his payroll before her eyes, but that doesn't scare her, as she openly flirts with O'Conner every chance she gets.

The action takes place in Miami, and since the City conjures up nightlife, music and heat, it's the ideal setting.  The sleek autos painted in candy colors race through the night to the beat of loud, pulsing music.  It doesn't hurt the view any by having the male drivers buff and handsome and the females draped across the car hoods wearing next to nothing.

The story is silly and there's a few technical problems with the script (such as, the drivers continuing to shift gears even though their speedometer shows them at top speed).  However, disregard all that - the main thing is that it's all very entertaining.  2 Fast 2 Furious lives up to its name - big time!
